TempDrop does not require you to create an account, register an email address, or provide any identifying details to upload or download files. We do not maintain user profile databases, track users across different websites, or sell demographic information to advertising networks.
When you explicitly choose to upload a file, paste an image from your clipboard, or confirm a screen capture still frame, that file is intentionally transmitted to our temporary storage provider, temp.sh.
No file is ever read, accessed, or uploaded from your computer without your explicit interaction (such as dropping a file, clicking "Select File", clicking "Paste from Clipboard", or approving "Capture Screen" in the browser security dialog).
TempDrop acts as the web client interface. We do not operate our own permanent file storage infrastructure. Files are stored ephemerally on temp.sh servers and are subject to their service lifecycle.
Files uploaded through TempDrop are temporary by design. The current retention policy keeps uploaded files available for 3 days (72 hours). Following the conclusion of this retention window, files are permanently deleted by the storage provider and can no longer be accessed.
To provide the "Local History" feature without requiring a remote account, TempDrop stores metadata for your last 10 uploads in your browser's localStorage. This data includes the filename, returned URL, file size, timestamp, and upload source.
This data never leaves your device. You can view, selectively remove individual records, or clear all local history at any time using the History modal. Clearing local history only removes records from your device; it does not delete the remote file.
All network communication occurs over secure HTTPS transport (TLS encryption in transit). However, TempDrop does not claim end-to-end client-side encryption. Anyone in possession of the unique shareable link can download the file during its 3-day availability window. We recommend you only share links with intended recipients.
To keep TempDrop free and support ongoing infrastructure costs without subscription paywalls, we partner with third-party advertising vendors, including Google LLC ("Google AdSense"), to serve advertisements on our web pages.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies (such as the Google DoubleClick cookie) and similar tracking technologies to serve advertisements based on a user's prior visits to TempDrop (tempdrop.site) or other websites across the Internet. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its advertising partners to serve ads to our users based on their visits to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
Advertisements displayed may be either personalized (tailored to user browsing patterns, interests, or demographics) or non-personalized (contextual ads based on current page content, general geographic area, and basic browser parameters). Users in regions with specific privacy laws (such as GDPR in Europe or CCPA/CPRA in California) are served non-personalized or consent-conditioned ads in compliance with applicable standards.
Third-party ad networks, exchange partners, and certified vendors may also serve advertisements and collect anonymized diagnostic telemetry (such as device type, IP address, and ad interaction counts) to evaluate ad delivery performance and prevent click fraud. These third parties operate under their respective privacy policies.
You maintain complete choice regarding whether and how advertising cookies are utilized:
